Little Woman

My eyes connected with her emerald gaze and my heart broke for her. Her twinkly eyes, rosy cheeks, carefree honey waves that stood still as the swings creaked through the wind and slides squeaked amongst the laughter. One day, she will be broken. She will be told she’s not good enough. She will be taken advantage of. She will lose her virginity. She will lose herself and discover it later. There is nothing I can do to protect her from this world. She was born a woman.
